Character Engine Quick Check

Fill in the five fields for one character and the page will tell you how they are phrased. It has not read your story, so it cannot tell you whether the fields fit it. What it can do is catch the phrasings that most often hide a problem, and hand your own words back in an order that makes a weak link audible.

No email required. Nothing you type leaves your browser, and nothing is saved.

Changes the examples only. It does not change the checks.

Who are we looking at?

What is the character actively pursuing? Something a reader could watch happen.

What do they actually do about it? The first significant action, not a summary of the arc.

Why do they want the goal? Not the goal said twice.

What stands between them and the goal from outside? A person, a force, an institution.

What stands between them and the goal from within? A competing want, not a mood or a trait.

Checks how the five fields are phrased, not whether they fit your story.
